What is an angiography?
Coronary angiography is a diagnostic procedure done to locate obstructions in coronary arteries that can lead to heart attacks. The results of the procedure reveal the number of blocked coronary arteries, the location of the block and the degree of blockage.
Angiography helps to diagnose
- the number of blood vessels blocked
- the location of the block
- the extent of blockage
- the results of previous bypass surgery
- assessment of blood flow through the heart and blood vessels
