Simon Karo

Mr. Simon Karo is a co-founder, director and the current Group CEO of Pathway International, arguably the Leading Medical Travel Company in Africa and one of the world’s best, which focuses on ensuring health care is accessible to all by connecting patients with the best hospitals and doctors worldwide. Previously he was the Managing Director of Abercrombie and Kent Global Health where he was responsible for setting up the medical travel vertical as well as leading and building the development of the business in the region. Mr. Simon Karo has also worked as a Business and Management Consultant for Lincoln Consulting, M & D and Professional Touch Consulting. At Lincoln Consulting he has been involved in Strategy Development for several organizations as well as Leadership Development and Human Resource Development.

Mr. Simon Karo has also served as the CEO for Melchizedek Hospital for over 5 years where he directed the Operations and Strategy. He initiated a Strategic Plan for the Hospital and has also been involved in Marketing and Finance for the organization as well as the creation of a Human Resource Department. He currently sits on the Board of Directors of the Hospital. He has worked and created partnerships for the Hospital with a wide range of organizations as well as churches including Bishop T.D. Jakes and the Potter’s House as well as the Global Fund to Fight AIDS/HIV in Kenya. Mr. Karo briefly served as Chief Operating Officer of Melchizedek Hospital before his appointment as CEO in 2005.
Mr. Karo serves on the Board of Cross Medicare; an organization that is the business of transforming and reviving business to profitability. He is also a Director of BridgePoint HealthCare, Tesla Cancer Hospital, Muthaiga Golf Club, Krawl Jens and served on the board of the Kenya Association of Hospitals and has been a member for the last five years and participated in numerous forums for the formulation of Health policies for Kenya, impacting KEPSA.

Mr. Karo has been involved in Leadership Development programs at AMREF, equipped and trained Somali Board of Directors and Hospital CEOs- Strategic Management Awareness and training, facilitated Strategic Leadership and Strategic Management trainings. He was also the Lead consultant involved in Formulation of Strategic Plan 2008 – 2012 and Senior Management Training for Bob Morgan Security. He developed a Business Strategic Plan March 2009 for Mater Hospital. Trainer involved in Empowering the Nurse Manager with Leadership and Management Skills at Kenyatta National Hospital 2008. Consultant involved in the Mid Term review of Strategy for the Nairobi Health Management Board 2007-2008. Developed strategy for Bible Society of Kenya (BSK) - 2008-2013. Facilitated HR Consulting, HR Manual; Board and Senior Management team awareness on Strategy and Human Resource Management for PCEA Kikuyu hospital- 2008.

Before he joined Lincoln Consulting, Mr. Karo was a Consultant with Professional Touch Consultants, a firm that offers business consulting to Financial Institutions, SME's, Multinational Companies, Government Agencies and Multi Lateral NGOs. He boasts of extensive corporate consulting in the following key areas: Strategic Planning, Risk Management, Corporate Governance and Strategic Leadership, Organizational Growth Strategies & Plans, Human Resource Management and Development, Sales Management Strategies and Globally Acceptable Best Practices in Entrepreneurship (Special emphasis on the African Context).

Mr. Karo has an MBA in Strategic Management from USIU where he graduated at the top of his class. He also has an International Business Administration degree (concentration in Management).  He graduated as the top student (Summa Cum Laude) with a GPA of 3.9. He also obtained his Associate Degree in Science from the University of Kentucky (USA).
