GE Healthcare, the healthcare business of GE, announced the signing of an agreement with Gardens Hospital in Jordan to supply advanced diagnostic and healthcare equipment.

Elie Chahoud, GE Healthcare's General Manager for Levant, and Dr. Fayez Abu Ihmedan, President of Gardens Hospital, announced the partnership at Arab Health 2012, where GE is showcasing its full breadth of advanced medical technologies.

According to the agreement, GE Healthcare will provide its latest Optima MR360 1.5 tesla that can help improve imaging productivity; and the high-performance Innova IGS 530 interventional x-ray platform, which is the next step forward in single-plane digital imaging. Both these advanced products are also on display at Arab Health 2012.

Last year, Gardens Hospital purchased a variety of systems from GE Healthcare including an Optima 660 CT 64 slices, Definium 6000 X-ray, fluoroscopy precision RXI, mammo systems and a wide range of ultrasound, monitors, ventilators and incubators, among others.

Elie Chahoud said: "GE Healthcare has been partnering with several public and private sector leaders in the Jordanian healthcare sector over the past years. Our partnership with the new Gardens Hospital to provide advanced diagnostic technologies will further enhance the competencies of the hospital to provide cutting edge medical services that will promote an 'earlier model' of healthcare. By promoting early diagnosis, a cornerstone of our healthymagination initiative, we are furthering our commitment to help provide high quality medical care to more people at lower costs."

Dr. Fayez Abu Ihmedan added: "One of the goals of Gardens Hospital, which is currently on schedule for soft opening in the first quarter of 2013, is to provide advanced clinical care in Jordan, while also promoting the country's medical tourism by offering state-of-the-art care. GE Healthcare is a world leader in advanced healthcare technologies, and the new agreement for the diagnostic equipment will further enable us to set our distinct credentials in healthcare delivery."

The 150-bed hospital is being developed in Amman and civil work is progressing. The hospital will be a value addition to the private sector healthcare delivery in Jordan.

GE Healthcare's Optima MR360 features an 'Express Exam' concept to simplify operations, and help increase productivity and diagnostic confidence. It is a high performance system that uses an uncompromised magnet with a 48-cm field of view. GE's Innova IGS 530 offers all the coverage, detail and advanced applications necessary to see through the different interventional procedures.

GE provides its healthcare technologies to several leading medical organizations in Jordan including Jordan Hospital, Al Hayat Hospital and Al Essra Hospital. Visit GE Healthcare's pavilion at Arab Health, located in Sheikh Saeed Hall - Stand No S3B10.
